This is a nice shade that can be used as a base for other eye shadow or on its own. I mainly use this as a cream base for powder shadow as well as well as when using smudgesicles ... Good Product but as previous reviewer said - it Will dry out so best not to purchase unless you intend to use it regularly and not store it for long.
I would usually just wear this alone over the lid area. Glides on smooth and silky. The shade I have is more of a plum, shimmery color....VERY PRETTY. I like to wear this color alone and not use it as an eye shadow base, but you certainly can use it as a base as well. Nice, natural, soft, a bit more of a richer subtle plum color and bit of shimmer look.
Downfall is keep it tightly closed or it will dry up. This one is a newer version and so far has not dried up, my older Canvas color one, unfortunately dried up. The SA at the counter said they have improved this and it doesn't dry out as easy, but I still recommend making sure it's tightly closed

I loved this as an all over base. I would usually just wear it alone or sometimes as a highlighter near the brow bone. Glides on smooth and silky. Try Clinique's new Touch TINT for your shadow base. It comes in a tube, feels smooth and creamy and won't dry out like their Touch Base shadow base. There's lots of pretty colors, both matte and glimmer. Takes just a dot to cover eyelid, and best of all, since it comes in a tube, no more putting your fingers in the product. No creases all day, brings out shadow colors and comfortable to wear.

I understand your concerns regarding Clinique's Touch Base for Eyes drying out too quickly. One thing that I do is keep it in the box it comes in as this helps save the moisture in the product. An excellent alternative is Clinique's new Touch Tint for Eyes. It comes in a tube, won't dry out, and there are more colors to choose from. The colors come in both frosts and mattes. This product retails for 14.50 and lasts a LONG, LONG time, so you can get more than one color at a time. Touch Tints are also very smooth, so application won't tug at your sensitive eye area. You also do not have to put your finger in the product, as it comes out the end of the tube. Just a suggestion, since you apparently liked Touch Base, but were disappointed in its shelf life.
Oh my....This product goes on smoothly, comes in great colors and a great little compact but whoops! It has no shelf life. You better be wearing it for an eyeshadow too-every single day-or you will be sorely disappointed in the cracked dried out hard mass of stuff you are left with. For something that's this spendy and apparently necessary (for me anyway) you'd think that Clinique would come up with a better package, one that closes better or a better formula that doesn't become hard and crack after a month. It's simply not worth the cost and frustration to buy something I can't use until it's all used up-believe me, I've tried. Once, I was stupid enough to buy two because I so loved the colors....big mistake! My faves were Canvas, a nice neutral and Up-Lighting, but sadly I've moved on. I know it's only $13.50, but if you're only getting $8.00's use out of it, why buy it?? I also have to question anything I stick my finger in to apply-it seems a bit like it'd make for a bacteria fiesta and that's not something I want to put on or near my eyes every day. I'm off to other brands of shadow base, but I'd be back in a flash if Clinique would wise up and make this product more user (and buyer/spender) friendly. Toodles Clinique! FYI: Don't waste your money unless you'll be using lots of product and take it from me-don't buy more than one at a time if you feel you need to buy this at all....
Pros:Pretty colors that goes on smoothly, comes in a neat little compact with mirror, portable Cons:Dries out waaaay tooo fast so not a good deal at this price, have to put on with finger, possibly not sanitary to do daily
